JOSH POEHLEIN
Josh was born in Georgia then moved North along the East Coast pausing in Virginia and Pennsylvania, where he first started taking photographs. In May of 2007, he graduated from the Rochester Institute of Technology with a degree in Photography. Since then he's been living and working in Salt Lake City, Utah, with brief stays in Oregon during the summertime.
Although Josh resides as far as he can get from an artistic hub in the US, art and photography are still an integral part of his life. He also enjoys table tennis and finding places to swim in the summer.
CHRIS MOTTALINI
Chris Mottalini was born in 1978 and grew up in Buffalo, New York. He has a degree in Journalism from the University of Colorado, Boulder. His work has been featured in many publications and was recently exhibited at the Museum of Contemporary Photography in Chicago and will be shown in Barcelona this June. He is partially colorblind.
After You Left, They Took It Apart; Demolished Paul Rudolph Homes:
This project focuses on a group of now-demolished homes by the acclaimed and controversial Modernist architect Paul Rudolph. In 2007, Mottalini documented several Paul Rudolph homes mere days before their demolition. These photographs capture a state of Modernism few people have witnessed and reveal the grace of these homes as they stood in defiance of severe neglect and abandonment. They are the final portraits.
The Mistake by the Lake:
The Mistake by the Lake is a photographic record of the assortment of school bus stop shelters scattered across the greater Buffalo, New York landscape. Parents build these sentry-like structures to protect their children from the brutal Buffalo winters. Though these shelters are created for a specific need, over time that need diminishes and they become part of their surroundings. These shelters remain as repetitive reminders of past necessity.
